Homoeopathy is a system which treats the individual using highly diluted substances obtained from plants, minerals or animal substances. This type of treatment is aimed at triggering the body’s natural system of healing in order to overcome illness according to specific symptoms. Since the time of Hippocrates, the “Law of Similars” has been recognised, based on the principle that you can treat ‘like with like’, meaning a substance which causes symptoms can be used in small amounts to treat those same symptoms. This idea was further expanded upon by Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homoeopathy, in the late 1700’s.
Remedies in homoeopathy have no chemical toxicity and are widely used throughout Europe, India and England. This allows treatment of all ages, even sensitive people such as expectant mothers or children, as there are usually no side effects. The ideal of homoeopathy is to optimise the natural defence of the body in order to restore balance and rid it of disease.
